A software company with the soul of a workshop.
The Jones Foundry builds custom software for organizations and original products of our own. We are founder-led, and the person you talk to is the person who builds it.
Jones Web Designs & Development is now The Jones Foundry.
We started in 2002 designing websites. Today we also build business systems, records platforms, iPhone apps and software products of our own, and our name hadn’t kept up with the work. The Jones Foundry is the name for all of it.
If you’re one of the clients who has trusted us over the years, thank you. Here is what the change means for you:
- The same people do the work. The founder who built your project is the one who supports it.
- How you reach us hasn’t changed. walter@joneswebdesigns.com and thejonesfoundry.com keep working.
- Your website, application and support continue as they are. Nothing needs to be moved, renewed or re-signed.
- The business behind the name is the same one. Existing agreements and invoices stay as they are.

From websites to software products.
The company began in 2002 as Jones Web Designs, designing and maintaining websites for local businesses and organizations. The founding idea was simple: treat every client individually, and build things they can actually run. We still start a project the same way, by sitting down to understand what you need before anything is built.
The work grew with the web. Websites became web applications. WordPress sites became Formidable Forms applications and custom plugins, and then a catalog of Formidable add-ons and products used by other developers. Two decades of building for private organizations and public agencies brought records management systems, audit trails and the discipline that comes with software that has to answer for every change.
Today we also build and run 10 software products of our own, from photography business tools to youth sports apps on the App Store, alongside custom work for clients. The Jones Foundry is the name for what the company has become; the business behind it is the same one founded in 2002.
Where ideas take shape.
Traditionally, a foundry is a place where raw materials are transformed into something useful. Through heat, precision, engineering and craftsmanship, something without form becomes something built for a purpose.
At The Jones Foundry, we work with a different kind of raw material. Ideas. Challenges. Opportunities.
We take complex problems and shape them into software, applications, platforms and systems designed to make a difference. Sometimes we’re building a custom solution for a client. Other times, we’re bringing one of our own ideas to life.
Either way, our approach remains the same: understand the problem, engineer the solution, and refine it until it’s ready for the real world.
Our roots go back to 2002. Our commitment to building meaningful technology continues to drive us forward.

Discover
Every great creation starts with an idea.
We examine the challenge, understand the opportunity, and establish what needs to be built.
-
02
Shape
Ideas need structure.
We architect the technology, plan its components, define the experience, and create the foundation.
-
03
Forge
This is where the work takes form.
We engineer the application, integrate the systems, develop the functionality, and turn architecture into working software.

04
Refine
Precision separates a prototype from a product.
We test, secure, optimize, and improve the solution.

Deliver & Evolve
Built for use. Designed to grow.
We deploy the finished solution and keep supporting it as it evolves.
Five principles of the foundry.
Every solution begins with something raw.
An idea. A challenge. An inefficient process. A problem worth solving. We recognize potential in things that have not yet taken shape.
Engineering gives ideas structure.
Ideas alone are not enough. Good software needs thoughtful architecture, reliable systems, deliberate design and a clear understanding of the problem.
Craftsmanship matters.
Software should not simply function. It should be intuitive, efficient, dependable, maintainable and thoughtfully engineered.
We build for the real world.
We make technology to solve practical problems, not to demonstrate what is technically possible.
We never stop refining.
Products and systems evolve. We build, test, improve, maintain and adapt.

Small on purpose.
We are not a large agency, and we don’t pretend to be. A founder-led company means direct accountability: no account managers between you and the engineer, and no hand-offs to people who weren’t in the room.
It also means we take on a limited number of client projects at a time, so each one gets real attention alongside the products we run.
Have an idea worth building?
Bring us the challenge. We’ll help shape the solution. You’ll hear back from the engineer who would build it, not a sales team.
